AMNS steel plant to have largest slurry pipeline to get ore

Visakhapatnam: As part of decarbonised economy, ArcelorMittal-Nippon Steel (AMNS) India will have India's largest slurry pipeline to source iron ore from Chattisgarh for its upcoming integrated steel plant at Rajaiahpet in Anakapalle district in Andhra Pradesh.
The 8.2 million tonnes steel plant for which bhoomi pooja will be performed on Monday will have cost-effective and environmental-friendly evacuation of raw material from mines in Chattisgarh via Odisha through the 307-km long pipeline. It will lead to significant savings in logistic cost.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy, Minister of State Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma will take part in the ground-breaking ceremony.
AMNS is investing nearly Rs1.5 lakh crore project. In the first phase it will have a capacity of 17.8 million tonnes. In the subsequent phase, the capacity will be expanded to 24 million tonnes.
The slurry pipeline idea, which was appointed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Visakhapatnam, will have a capacity to carry 17 million tonnes per annum.
