Amaravati Decked Up For Capital Work Relaunch Amid Plans To Get More Land

Amaravati: Massive arrangements are underway for relaunching of capital development works at a cost Rs65,000 crore by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2 amid apprehensions over acquisition of large parcels of land from the farmers in the Krishna delta area as part of expanding the limits of Amaravati to make it a global city.
Dream project of TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to make Amaravati a people's capital and a futuristic smart city with sustainable technologies, it's development came to a grinding halt due to three capital plans of YSRCP president and then CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during 2019-24.
Naidu, who during his earlier stint as first CM of AP post-bufurcation had acquired 35,000 acres under Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) promising 1,000 square yards of developed plot for giving away every one acre of land.
The farmers, who had spearheaded an agitation under the banner 'Jai Amaravati' played a key role in bringing Naidu back to the saddle with a landslide win in the general elections.
Minister for Municipal Adminstration P. Narayana said they will acquire additional land for expanding the capital city area to meet the needs for an international airport, sports city and other ambitious projects.
TDP sources told Bizz Buzz that the government is toying with the idea to acquire around 30,000 acres in the next phase.
The sources said the modalities to be followed for acquisition are yet to be decided as Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is analysing the repercussions of various options to place it before Naidu for consideration.
Meanwhile, Naidu, said that the works of Amaravati are being relaunched by the Prime Minister, which is going to be a great turning point in the history of the State.
After a review meeting, he said that the previous government had hatched several conspiracies and even attacks to cause severe damage to Amaravati.
However, overcoming all these challenges and difficulties Amaravati stood firmly which is born out of the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh Naidu remarked.
