Amaravati: Almost nine years after he gifted soil from the Parliament and water from the River Yamuna at the time of performing the bhumi puja for 'people's capital' Amaravati, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will relaunch the capital city development project on Friday.

All eyes are focused on Modi's. Address, which he is scheduled to give from a sprawling make-shift grounds near the Velagapudi Secretariat in the afternoon. As per the itinerary, he will land at Gannavaram Airport at 2:55 pm and later fly by a helicopter to Velagapudi Helipad 3:15 pm. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who secured massive loan from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and HUDCO for the capital city, on Thursday reviewed the arrangements to roll out a red carpet welcome to Modi after a meeting by Group of Ministers set up to oversee the bandobast and mobilise around five lakh people for the meeting. Farmers who gave their lands from 29 villages in the capital region have been extended a special invitation to attend the function.

Later Chief Secretary K Vijayanand said all arrangements are complete to make the Prime Minister’s visit a grand success.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for works worth Rs49,040 crore for capital development. The Prime Minister will commence work on seven iconic buildings including 250-metre tall Assembly and seven-floor AP High Court complex.

He will lay the stone for some works and inaugurate several worth Rs57,962 crore relating to Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), NHAI and Railways, according to the officials.

The Government of India during last year’s budget presentation committed to arrange Rs15,000 crore through multilateral organisations following which World Bank and ADB each pledged to lend a soft loan of $800 million. The Centre on its behalf sanctioned Rs1,500 crore. HUDCO signed MoU for a loan of Rs11,000 crore. CRDA is also trying to promote Brand Amaravati and mop up funds exploring various options.
