16th HackAP turns into a bighit

The 16th edition of the HackAP hackathon series, focused on life sciences, concluded here today at A Hub (AU Incubation Center), bringing together brilliant minds to tackle challenging problems in pharmacy, biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, ecology, and physiology.
The hackathon saw exceptional participation with eight teams shortlisted for the finals based on their Proof of Concept (PoC) submissions, of which seven teams presented their innovative solutions in person.
After rigorous evaluation by a distinguished panel of judges, Virus Crackers (comprising students from Andhra University and Ortus College of Nursing) emerged as the first prize winners, while Cycle Reclaimers (from Andhra University) secured the second position.
Both winning teams received cash prizes, and the remaining five finalist teams were also recognized with token amounts for their dedication to solving complex life sciences challenges.
The prize money was graciously provided in memory of Sreesha Mahishi by his family, adding a meaningful tribute to the event.
Prof. Yedidi Ravi Kiran of TCABS-E, who served as the chief judge, praised the quality of solutions presented during the valedictory session.
"The innovative approaches demonstrated by the young minds are truly commendable," said Prof. Yedidi, who also extended offers for free internships to any teams interested in advancing their research ideas
CEO of A Hub Ravi Eswarapu emphasised the tremendous potential in the biosciences sector during his closing remarks. "There is substantial funding available in biosciences, and we encourage students to continue their research journey. The opportunities for converting innovative ideas into successful startups are immense," he stated.
