Ananya Reddy of Telangana ranks 3rd in the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2023

Donuru Ananya Reddy, a native of Mahabubnagar district in Telangana, clinched the prestigious third rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2023, leading the charge among successful candidates from the Telugu-speaking states. The results, announced on Tuesday afternoon, revealed a commendable achievement for candidates from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with a total of 39 individuals securing positions in the civil services. Notably, four candidates from these states achieved ranks within the top 100.

Joining Ananya Reddy in the ranks of success were Nandala Sai Kiran at 27th position, K. N. Chandana Jahnavi at 50th, and Merugu Kaushik at 82nd. Impressively, despite the rigorous selection process, 100 candidates from the two states made it to the interview stage.

Several other candidates performed admirably, securing positions below 500, including Ravula Jayasimha Reddy (104), Anusha Pillai (201), Penkeesu Dheeraj Reddy (173), Nimmanapalli Pradeep Reddy (382), Nandiraju Sri Meghana Devi (411), Gobbilla Krishnasreevastav (444), Banna Venkatesh (467), Kadumuri Hari Prasad Raju (475), Poola Dhanush (480), and Adusumilli Monica (487).

The last individual selected from the Telugu states, Govada Navyasree, clinched the 995th position. Remarkably, many of the successful candidates were already serving in civil services, having secured positions in previous years.

The UPSC Civil Services Examination, conducted annually in three stages, selects candidates for prestigious positions such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS). This year's examination saw 1016 candidates recommended for various services, with the commission maintaining a reserve list of 240 candidates. The interviews for the Personality Test were conducted between January and April 2024.

Key figures from coaching academies in Hyderabad shared insights into the success of their candidates. Analog IAS Academy saw 50 of their candidates being selected, while R.C. Reddy IAS Academy had 25 successful candidates. Braintree IAS Academy also noted a similar trend to the previous year, with around 40 candidates from the Telugu states making it to the civil services.

G. Sindhura, Director of Narayana Group of Institutions, celebrated the success of their candidates, with Prudhvi Raj Kumar, Narendra Padal, and Sai Prakash securing ranks of 493, 545, and 919 respectively.

Additional DGP Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, actively involved in mentoring civil services aspirants, contributed to the success of 100 candidates who received online coaching for personal interviews.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy extended his congratulations to the successful candidates from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, expressing his delight at the selection of over 50 individuals from the Telugu states for civil services. He specifically commended Donuru Ananya Reddy for her remarkable achievement of securing the third rank nationally in the UPSC examination.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results for the Civil Services Exam 2023, with Aditya Srivastava clinching the top rank. Following closely behind, Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy secured the second and third positions respectively.

A total of 1,016 candidates have successfully cleared the examination and are now recommended for various central government services, as disclosed by the UPSC. The Civil Services Exam, conducted annually in three stages — preliminary, main, and interview — by the UPSC, aims to select officers for prestigious roles including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
