In a strategic move to expand their fuel distribution footprint, Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) and Jio-bp have entered into a partnership to offer each other’s fuel products at select retail outlets, as announced on June 25. The collaboration aims to enhance fuel accessibility and quality for Indian transport consumers.

Under the agreement, ATGL’s CNG dispensing units will be integrated into select Jio-bp fuel stations, while Jio-bp’s high-performance petrol and diesel will be made available at selected ATGL outlets. The partnership will extend across both existing and upcoming fuel retail outlets within ATGL’s authorized areas of operation.

ATGL, a leading city gas distribution (CGD) company in India, operates under a joint venture between Adani Group and TotalEnergies. It supplies natural gas to households, commercial and industrial customers, and the transport sector. The company also offers solutions like Compressed Biogas (CBG), EV charging, and LNG for long-haul transport.

On the other hand, Jio-bp, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp, focuses on fuel retailing, low-emission energy solutions, and convenience services. Speaking on the partnership, Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, said, “This collaboration allows us to leverage our collective infrastructure and strengths to deliver enhanced value to Indian consumers.” Suresh P Manglani, CEO of ATGL, echoed the sentiment, highlighting how the deal will improve both service quality and fuel accessibility.

This marks the second major collaboration between the two corporate giants this year. In March, Reliance Industries acquired a 26% stake in Mahan Energen (MEL), a subsidiary of Adani Power.

Currently, ATGL operates nearly 650 CNG stations, while Jio-bp manages a network of around 2,000 fuel outlets across India. However, the retail fuel market in India remains largely dominated by state-run oil companies—HPCL, BPCL, and IOC—which collectively control about 90% of the 97,000 retail fuel stations nationwide.
