A Wrong Food Order, A Right Turn: How Zomato Helped Save a Family in Pune

Shripal Gandhi placed his simple Subway order through Zomato for paneer tikka sandwich along with Bingo chips and oat raisin cookies but received an unexpected life lesson in grace, humility and grit.
Through a viral Facebook post Pune resident shared his experience of receiving only the sandwich from his delivery. The food delivery rider stuttered before responding to Gandhi's complaint about missing items and advised him to contact both the restaurant and Zomato.
The restaurant offered ₹20 to the delivery agent after Subway confirmed the order issue to return and retrieve the remaining items. Despite his salary coming from Zomato instead of Subway he did not hesitate to take action.
“Sir, it’s my responsibility. The delivery agent said he wants to make sure the customer service feels happy. The delivery agent returned to the restaurant to pick up the food and came back with a smile but declined the ₹20.
“God has given me so much. He told Gandhi that taking money for another person's mistake was unnecessary.
The subsequent narrative amazed the customer. Before working for Zomato, this man held a construction supervisor position at Shapoorji Pallonji where he made ₹1.25 lakh monthly. After suffering a car accident that paralyzed his left side he had to leave his job.
He explained how Zomato had given him another opportunity. “Zomato kept my family alive. Though I live with a disability inclusion I received an opportunity. The company Zomato will never face any damage to its reputation because of his actions. Meanwhile his daughter studies dentistry.
According to Gandhi the man accepted his situation without blaming life or expressing complaints. The man smiled through his faith in Swami Samarth and declared his certainty that God was with him. Why should I worry?’”
The post concluded with an acknowledgment to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal for how the company extends fair opportunities to people with disabilities.
Your decision is profoundly impacting lives in ways you may not yet understand.
Deepinder Goyal and Zomato have yet to provide a response to the post.
