Hyderabad: Under Prime Minister’s ‘Namo Drone Didi’ Scheme, Coromandel International, an agri solutions provider distributed 200 drone pilot training certificates to women from self-help groups (SHGs) of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The drones are likely to reach these women by the end of March 2024.

In an event organised by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers across 11 locations in the country, including Manikyammaguda in Rangareddy District, and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually handed over 1,000 drones, including 200 drones of Coromandel International, to the members of various SHGs.

The drones, yet to be delivered by Coromandel International, are manufactured by the company’s subsidiary Dhaksha Unmanned Systems, a defense and agriculture drone manufacturer. “In the last three months we have trained 200 women from various SHGs of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. By March end we will distribute these 200 agricultural drones along with a set of propellers, batteries and charging station. Each drone costs around Rs 6 lakh to Rs 7 lakh,” vice president and Head Marketing (Fertilisers) of Coromandel Madhab Adhikari told Bizz Buzz.
