A 15‑day safety inspection drive has been launched for level crossing gates in block sections, aiming to ensure operational integrity, reduce accident risks, and enhance rail commuter safety across the network.

Despite the demise of his father just a day ago and being engaged in rituals and personal grief, Hon’ble Minister of Railways reviewed critical railway safety matters today (09 July 2025).
On phone he has done review on “LC Gate Safety “ and decided 11 Key action.
The CCTV system to be provided at all the LC gates along with the necessary recording systems. The power supply for the CCTV should also be made available at LC gate. The power supply can be based on solar panels, battery back-up, UPS, etc in addition to commercial supply. This activity to be completed in mission mode.Policy review for converting ‘Close to Road Traffic’ gates to ‘Open to Road Traffic’ gates.
Fast-tracking interlocking of LC gates in mission mode.
Railway PSUs may be involved for interlocking works and construction.
TVU threshold lowered: Interlocking now to start at 10,000 TVU (earlier 20,000).
All gates above 10,000 TVU to be interlocked irrespective of ROB/RUB/LHS plans.
Daily random checks of voice recordings from non-interlocked LC gates (at least 2/day/division).
Voice logger system to be confirmed functional at all non-interlocked gates by all DRMs.
Speed breakers, warning boards to be standardized and corrected at all LC gates.
Accelerate construction of LHS/RUB/ROB to eliminate LC gates. List of conflict-prone gates (where public pressures or manhandling happens) to be made. RPF/Home Guard deployment to be ensured.
