Hyderabad: Bonds on Paytm Money via an early access programme, witnessed tremendous user interest. Over 85,000 people joined the waitlist, and now the app is open to all Paytm Money customers.

“The bond investment platform has received a fantastic response from regular investors, with more than 85,000 people applying to use it, those logged onto the platform mostly looked at tenures ranging from a few days to 39 years, and across various bond categories. The company’s goal to make investment opportunities accessible to everyone and discusses how the platform has influenced the investment landscape,” said Varun Sridhar, CEO of Paytm Money.

Since the launch, the platform had one lakh unique users spending an average of 10 minutes on the app. Customers have purchased Government bonds, Corporate bonds, and tax-free bonds equally, with tenures ranging from a few days to 39 years, and investment amounts from Rs 100 to a few lakhs of rupees. Government bonds were bought at a yield of 7.2 per cent providing a great alternative to fixed deposits.

Customers also invested in corporate bonds with yields ranging from 8-14 per cent, offering diverse options to suit different risk profiles. Direct investing in bonds is increasingly attractive due to changes in taxation. Bonds offer simplicity, transparency, and the ability to search and filter bonds based on individual needs.

It offers stability, income, and risk reductions, making them attractive to investors. They are less risky than stocks and provide protection during market downturns. With different types of bonds available, investors can choose options that suit their needs and risk tolerance. Regular interest payments make bonds particularly beneficial for retirees seeking a steady income.
