Zomato introduces daily payouts for restaurant partners

Food delivery app Zomato has rolled out a new feature that enables users to add food items from multiple restaurants to their cart simultaneously. With the multi-restaurant cart feature, customers can now select dishes from up to four eateries without losing the items in their cart. Once the items are added, users can proceed to place an order from one restaurant, followed by the rest. This allows for a more seamless and convenient ordering experience.

Previously, Zomato's app automatically removed items from the cart if users added food from another eatery. However, with the introduction of this feature, customers can now easily shortlist food items from different restaurants, save them to the cart, and place individual orders without any items disappearing. The aim of this update is to enhance customer satisfaction and minimize the hassle of switching between different menus.

A spokesperson from Zomato stated, "At Zomato, we strive to continuously innovate and improve the customer experience. This feature allows customers to create multiple carts without the need for back and forth across different menus."

It's important to note that Zomato's rival food delivery app, Swiggy, does not yet offer a similar multi-restaurant cart feature. However, apps like PhonePe's Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) app called Pincode and cloud kitchen unicorn Rebel Foods already allow users to add food from multiple restaurants simultaneously.

In addition to this update, Zomato revamped its loyalty program in January, relaunching it as Zomato Gold. Priced at Rs 149 for a three-month subscription, the Gold membership offers benefits such as free delivery for orders above Rs 199 within a 10 km radius.

Recently, Zomato faced negative attention when a video went viral showing one of its delivery agents eating food from a plastic bag. Netizens expressed disappointment and concern over the incident, with many taking to social media to express their dissatisfaction. However, the incident does not directly relate to the introduction of the multi-restaurant cart feature, which aims to provide a more user-friendly ordering experience for Zomato customers.
