On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Indian stock markets—including NSE and BSE—are shut in observance of Ganesh Chaturthi, a state holiday in Maharashtra where the exchanges are headquartered. Trading across all segments—equity, derivatives, currency, and securities lending & borrowing—remains suspended. Meanwhile, commodity markets operate on a partial schedule: the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) resumes trading in the evening session from 5 PM, while segments like NCDEX remain fully closed for the day.
This is India's second market holiday this month, following the Independence Day closure on August 15. Markets will resume business on Thursday, August 28.
