US Stock Market Today: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq Open Higher on Inflation Data

US equity markets opened sharply higher on December 18, as the investors answered with a huge sigh of relief to fresh inflation data coming on the back of slight easing of price pressures and also for the Trump Media merger.
When the markets officially opened at 9:30 AM EDT, all three major indices were headed higher. Dow Jones Industrial Average had an increase of 0.45% until 48,101.18 points, with S&P 500 driving 0.84% uphill to 6,778.06. The tech-based Nasdaq Composite index was skyrocketing, up by 1.40% to open at 23,012.06 points.
The market initially felt pressure being relieved when they were still haunted by the question of how inflation might shape the US Federal Reserve's compass in terms of determining interest rates. At the same time, corporate events, like the plan of the Trump Media merger, acted as a value addition to trading momentum.
Wall Street players should be glued to economic indicators besides corporate news while they continue munching through the day for a sign that could balance the direction of the market.
