On the Friday of October 24, 2025, Wall Street opened with a positive trend as new US inflation figures quickened the already heightened investors' anticipation on the Federal Reserve's cutting the interest rate.

After the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the three major indices: Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite started their trading day by gaining points. The CPI reported that consumer prices increased by 3% during the period of one year ending in September 2025, compared to 2.9% of the same period last year, thus, the possible influence of the Fed’s monetary policy on this matter could be inferred.

The investors are monitoring the Fed very closely as it was during the September 2025 meeting, when the central bank reduced the benchmark rate by 25 basis points to the 4.00%-4.25% range, and thus, indicated a very cautious attitude before making any further rate adjustments.

At the happening opening of the bell (09:30 a.m. EDT), the main indices varied:

  • Dow Jones Industrial Average: up 221.66 points, or 0.47%, at 46,956.27
  • S&P 500: up 43.88 points, or 0.66%, at 6,782.32
  • Nasdaq Composite: up 200.07 points, or 0.87%, at 23,141.87

The rally in the market indicates the optimism that, due to the somewhat slower inflation, the Fed could possibly further lower the rates thereby facilitating the growth of equities and growth-oriented sectors.
