Trading activity in India’s equity and commodities markets is on pause today as the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) observe the 79th Independence Day holiday.
All market segments — equities, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) — will remain closed for the day. According to the NSE’s official holiday calendar, trading will resume on Monday, August 18.

Independence Day is one of two trading holidays this month. Markets will also remain shut on Wednesday, August 27 for Ganesh Chaturthi. The last weekday market closure was on May 1 for Maharashtra Day.
