Closing Bell: Sensex up 260 pts, Nifty Closes Below 24,350; Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance Among Major Gainers
The Indian benchmark indices ended the session on a positive note today, May 2. Sensex ended at 80,501.99, up 0.32%, while Nifty went down by 0.090% at 24,312.20.

The Indian benchmark indices ended the session on a positive note today, May 2. Sensex ended at 80,501.99, up 0.32%, while Nifty went down by 0.090% at 24,312.20.
Shares of Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries, SBI ended in green on Nifty, while JSW Steel, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC Life emerged among the top losers. Mid index fell by 0.4%.
On the sectoral front, media, energy, IT, oil & gas soared in the range of 0.3-0.7%. On the other hand, power, metal, telecom, pharma, realty, consumer durables tumbled between 0.5-2%.
Jindal Steel reported a profit of ₹291 crore in Q4FY25, against ₹502 crore on a YoY basis. Citi raised the target price on the share to ₹800 from ₹675.
BSE Oil & Gas index surged by 0.7% where IOC, HPCL, Reliance Industries emerged among the top contributors.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee ended marginally lower at 84.56 against the greenback today, compared to Wednesday’s closing of 84.59.
