On the sectoral front, Nifty Realty index soared 2%, emerging as the top sectoral gainer. While Nifty Media and PSU Bank indices fell by 2%, BSE midcap index was down 0.5%.
Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Life, Bharti Airtel, SBI Life Insurance, and Power Grid Corp emerged among the top gainers in Nifty 50, while Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Trent, Tata Motors, and SBI were the top losers.
