New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair NITI Aayog’s Governing Council meeting on May 27, and issues related to the economy, agriculture and health are expected to be taken up for discussions, according to official sources. The council, the apex body of NITI Aayog, includes all Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. Modi is the Chairman of NITI Aayog. Generally, the full council meeting happens every year and last year, it was held under the chairmanship of Modi on August 7. The council meeting was not convened in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The first meeting of the council took place on February 8, 2015.

L&T’s arm bags multiple EPC orders

New Delhi: Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Wednesday said it has bagged 'significant' engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders from the domestic market for its buildings and factories business. The buildings & factories (B&F) business of its arm Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction has won an order from a developer to construct residential towers in Thane, Mumbai, the infrastructure major said in a statement. The scope of the work includes construction of core and shell works for five towers comprising ground, five podiums, 54 floors and allied parking areas. The project is to be executed within stringent timelines, the company said. The company did not disclose the deal value. According to its project classification, significant orders range between Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore. Another order has been secured from a client to construct commercial office space in Bengaluru with an approximate built-up area of 16 lakhs sq. ft. The scope of work includes civil works for the composite structure, warm shell finishes among others. The project is scheduled to be completed in 18 months, the statement added.

Suzlon bags 99-MW wind energy project

New Delhi: Renewable energy solution provider Suzlon has bagged a 99-MW wind energy project from Vibrant Energy. "Suzlon Group has received an order from Vibrant Energy for 33 wind turbine generators featuring its new 3 MW (each) series with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular tower for a 99 MW wind power project which is expected to be commissioned by FY25," the statement added. The company, however, did not disclose the value of the order. "We are delighted to announce our first order with Vibrant Energy which is a highly respected corporate renewable energy solutions provider. I look forward to a long partnership with Vibrant Energy in the coming years towards building a sustainable India," J P Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, said.

Toyota looks to cut down waiting period

New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has initiated a third shift at its Karnataka-based plant to enhance production capacity by around 30 per cent, as it looks to cut down waiting periods on some of its popular models like Innova Crysta and Fortuner. The automaker has commenced a third shift from the first week of May in its Plant 1 in Bidadi on the outskirts of Bengaluru to ramp up the manufacturing capacity. The company has invested over Rs 90 crore to upgrade the existing infrastructure at the facility and added around 1,500 workforce for the third shift at the plant. "We have commenced a third shift at the plant which produces models like Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross and Fortuner.
