Launched in October 2021, PM Gati Shakti is a National Master Plan (NMP) for multi-modal connectivity. Post the latest move, all these ministries and departments will work in tandem for national progress, official sources tell Bizz Buzz

New Delhi: In a bid to link infrastructure development with human resources management, the central government has decided to include all Union Ministries and Departments related to social sectors with PM Gati Shakti. This means that now 30 ministries and departments will work in tandem for national progress, official sources told Bizz Buzz.

Launched in October 2021, PM Gati Shakti is a National Master Plan (NMP) for multi-modal connectivity. It is a digital platform that brings 16 Ministries - including those of Railways, Civil Aviation, Electronics & Information Technology, Shipping, and Road Transport - together for integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects.

The government recently made 14 social sector Ministries and Departments part of the NMP. This, the sources said, will improve the potential of social sector planning.

The 14 entities are: The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Post, the Department of School Education & Literacy, the Department of Higher Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Women & Child Development, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Department of Youth Affairs, the Department of Sports, the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, and Ministry of AYUSH.

As many as 61 social sector data layers under the Central Ministries have already been mapped on the NMP, the sources said. These are related to such infrastructure assets as primary and secondary schools, colleges, primary health centres, district hospitals, health sub-centres, public toilets, dump sites, Anganwadi centres, fair price shops, Amrit samovars, and dairy locations.

The Centre has also urged State governments to replicate standard operating procedures or SOPs for data management. Individual portals for 22 infrastructure and user economic ministries and all 36 States/UTs have been created and integrated with the NMP at the backend.
