Chennai-based Navia Markets Ltd. has launched Navia Backup, an independent emergency-mode application aimed at helping clients manage risk during rare and unforeseen system disruptions.

The new solution allows investors to square off existing open positions at market price if access to primary trading platforms is temporarily impacted. Navia said the move is designed to strengthen investor protection beyond standard industry safeguards.

Modern trading platforms depend on multiple interconnected systems, including exchange connectivity, order and risk management systems, cloud infrastructure and security layers. While Navia follows SEBI-mandated disaster recovery and business continuity norms with built-in redundancies, disruptions at any single point can, in exceptional cases, affect platform access.

Navia Backup is built as a standalone, lightweight application that operates independently of Navia’s core trading, cloud, OMS and RMS infrastructure. It is accessible through the Navia app and website and is intended solely as a last-resort mechanism to reduce market exposure.

The company clarified that the emergency tool does not support new order placement or display holdings, margins or market depth. Its limited design prioritises simplicity, robustness and independence over full trading functionality.

“Client safety and trust remain central to everything we build. Navia Backup strengthens operational resilience and helps clients retain control over their exposure in exceptional scenarios,” said S.K. Hozefa, CEO, Navia Markets Ltd. Founded in 1983, Navia Markets offers services across equities, derivatives, mutual funds, commodities, IPOs and MTF, and follows a lifetime zero-brokerage model.
