Move to hike property tax in Vizag decried

Visakhapatnam: THE draft notification issued by Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation for implementation of 'Rules for imposition of Property tax - 2020' leads to imposition of heavy burdens on the Vizagites and is illegal and undemocratic, Visakhapatnam Apartments Residents' Welfare Association (VARWA) said on Tuesday.

VARWA said it is seriously opposing the changes and is demanding withdrawal of the notification. Imposition of property tax based on the annual rental income, which is currently in vogue, is now being replaced by the capital value of the property.
