IIMV awards certificates to fellows of public policy program

Visakhapatnam Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) has announced the successful culmination of the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) Program Batch 2021-2023.

The two-year program by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GOI), under the Scheme of the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Program leading to the award of a certificate in public policy and management, was conducted under IIMV. A total of 61 fellows from Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar received their certificates.

Addressing the MGNF graduation function, D Chakrapani, former Director General, AP HRD institute, congratulated all the participants for achieving the certificates. He praised the effort of the IIMV Director, Prof M Chandrasekhar, for mentoring the program well in the institute. He shared that this was the crucial time to learn all the necessary skills and inculcate in participants to implement them on the grassroots level.

Chakrapani, a retired IAS officer shared that the MGNF experience will allow fellows to handle any critical situation as they have acquired enormous exposure at several institutions and government units. He added that MGNF fellows can be called social entrepreneurs as they have dealt with several sectors like education, health, transportation, and skill development. He added that with the help of technological advancement, there could be enough opportunities in several sectors to utilise their learning to transform the revolutionary societal changes that in turn will help attain the standards of global excellence for India.

Speaking at the event, Gyati Kacho, Assistant Director, Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, SSDM Representative of Arunachal Pradesh Government highlighted his journey of working with MGNF fellows. He said as far as the roles of MGNF fellows are concerned, they have done remarkable work, especially in Arunachal Pradesh. Since they have worked at the grassroots level, many government officials are willing to continue the work with them so that their learned skills in public policy management can be implemented well at the district level.

Prof M Chandrasekhar, Director IIMV, thanked the faculty members who nurtured the fellows to uplift their skills.
