G&G develops agri-fintech platform 'Upajguru'

Hyderabad: Dr Chandrasekhar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt of India; Dr Krishna Ella- Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech have launched 'Upajguru', an agri fintech platform, developed by Grus & Grade (G&G), on the occasion of the Foundation Day of ASPIRE – Association for Scientific Pursuits in Innovative Research, here recently.
ASPIRE is a non-profit organisation that manages the innovation and entrepreneurial activities at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) through the incubation of startup companies in various disciplines of science and technology.
The platform Upajguru is a medium to unleash the spirit of entrepreneurship in the farmer and empower them to innovate and adapt. With the world population likely to grow over 10 billion by the middle of the century, the agricultural production has to be doubled to meet the requirements of the future generations. Agriculture as business will have to become rewarding, the speakers observed.
"I appreciate the efforts put in by the team G & G for developing the agri-fintech platform. Scientists should focus on finding solutions to the problems facing the society instead of making money. India is a land of opportunities and has an abundance of talent. We should stop blaming the government for every problem and start doing ourselves," Dr Krishna Ella said.
"The motto has been to change the perception of agriculture and endure the absence of pride in the farming community. Upajguru bridges the gap of digital technology in the agri-value chain and make it agriculture sustainable and profitable," Ravi Soni, Cofounder and Chief Executive Officer, G & G said.
"The innovative platform would help in making agriculture and agribusiness more efficient, profitable and traceable. In Particular, it will also strengthen Farm Producers Organisations (FPOs) and agribusiness consortiums," said Nitya Nand Deepak, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, G & G.
Founded by alumni of IIM Indore, IIIT Delhi and the University of Delhi, G & G is incubated at Aspire BioNest-University of Hyderabad.
