The Hyderabad Chapter of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) Ladies Organisation (FLO) on Wednesday held a session on, “Comedy is serious business,” wherein stand-up comedian Amit Tandon spoke on the topic and also performed an act.

Tandon, interacting with Ritu Shah the Chairperson of FLO, spoke about Comedy being a serious, lucrative, engaging and promising business. “Though stand-up comedy is only15 years old in India, it has evolved. Indian comedians are performing at the most prestigious venues of their lifetime - Albert Hall London. They have gone all over the world. Nearly 700 International shows are performed by Indian comedians.”

On stand-up comedy being a business and evolving as an industry, Tandon further said, “Nearly 10,000 to 15,000 comedy show tickets are sold a month across the country. There are 300 to 400 full-time comedians making their living out of it.”
