Andhra Pradesh signs 352 MoUs worth Rs.13.05 lakh crore in two days of GIS

The Global Investment Summit (GIS) organised by Andhra Pradesh, which concluded on Saturday attracted many companies from India and abroad signing of 352 MoUs worth Rs.13.05 lakh crore exceeding manifold the Rs.2 lakh target set by the government.

The Global Investment Summit (GIS) organised by Andhra Pradesh, which concluded on Saturday attracted many companies from India and abroad signing of 352 MoUs worth Rs.13.05 lakh crore exceeding manifold the Rs.2 lakh target set by the government.

On the last day of two-day summit, 260 MoUs were signed in more than 13 sectors, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced in his address. Union Shipping Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy were present.

The government signed 260 MoUs envisaging an investment of Rs 1.17 lakh crore on the day two.

The Agriculture Department saw 15 MoUs worth Rs 1160 crore generating employment and Animal Husbandry Department inked eight MoUs worth 1020 crore that will generate 3,750 jobs in the State.

The highest number, 117 MoUs were signed in the tourism sector on Saturday which were worth Rs 22,096 crore with a promise to generate over 30,000 jobs. The Energy Department saw 40 MoUs worth Rs.8,84,823 crore that will generate nearly two lakh job opportunities.

The sectors that have attracted investments include Energy Department, Industries & Commerce Department, IT & ITES Department, Tourism Department and Agriculture & Animal Husbandry.

Amongst the major investors are, Reliance has signed one MoUs with an investment of Rs.5 lakh crore which will generate employment for 1,00,000.

HPCL has signed an MoU with an investment of Rs. 14.3 crore which will generate employment for 1500 people. HCL Technologies has signed two MoUs with an investment of Rs.22 crore which will generate employment for 5,000 people. Flipkart has signed two MoUs with an investment of Rs 20 crore.

Earlier on Day 1, AP Government signed 92 MoUs worth Rs 11,87,756 lakh crore. The Energy Department attracted 35 investment proposals with Re.8.25 lakh crore to generate1.33 lakh jobs.

This is followed by Industries & Commerce that attracted around 41 proposals with an investment of Rs 3.20 lakh crore that will generate 1.79 lakh employment. The IT and ITES Department managed to get six proposals with investment of Rs 32,944 crore which will generate employment for 64,815 people.

The Tourism Department received 10 proposals with investment of Rs.8,718 crore which will generate employment for 13,400.
