LIC gets GST demand notice of Rs 105 crore; will it Impact Investors?

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has received a GST demand notice totaling Rs 105.42 crore for short payments made over the past seven financial years. The notice, which includes interest and penalties across various states, was issued on February 5, 2025. LIC has been informed that the demand relates to the period from 2017-18 to 2023-24. The company has the option to appeal the notice before the Commissioner (Appeals) in Lucknow. Despite the demand, LIC stated that it would not have any significant impact on its financials, operations, or overall activities.
