Amid global economic uncertainties and geopolitical tensions, gold prices surged once again on June 3, 2025, with investors turning to the yellow metal as a safe-haven asset. Rates climbed in major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
The Russia-Ukraine war, ongoing trade tensions between the US and China/EU, and anticipation surrounding the upcoming US Federal Reserve rate decision are key drivers behind the latest rally in precious metals. Silver prices have also soared past the ₹1 lakh per kilogram mark, reflecting increased demand from cautious investors.
Key Highlights:
Gold futures (June 5) rose by 1.7% or ₹1,630 per 10 grams.
MCX Gold (June 2 session) hit an intraday high of ₹97,505 per 10 grams.
COMEX Gold (US) stood at $3,373/oz, up 1.74% as of 6:42 am EDT.
Silver (MCX) prices crossed ₹1,00,098/kg; bullion silver exceeded ₹1,01,300/kg.
Jateen Trivedi, VP & Research Analyst at LKP Securities, noted that gold is seeing strong support at ₹94,000 with resistance expected near ₹98,500–₹99,000. Gold has returned over 25% year-to-date and about 40% YoY, outperforming inflation and delivering an average 15% CAGR since 2001.
According to data from Motilal Oswal Private Wealth, gold investment demand in the March 2025 quarter rose by 170% YoY, totaling 552 tonnes — reinforcing gold’s reputation as a resilient hedge during market volatility.
