Commodity Watch: Zinc futures rise on increased participation

New Delhi: Zinc prices rose Rs 1.70 to Rs 303.25 per kilogram in futures trade amid a pick-up in spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for January delivery traded 0.56 per cent higher in a turnover of 2,827 lots. Marketmen said the widening of positions by participants, following a pick-up in demand from consuming industries, kept zinc prices higher in the futures trade.
Aluminium futures gain on spot demand
Aluminium prices rose 60 paise to Rs 287.50 per kilogram in the futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. Aluminium for delivery in January increased 0.21 per cent in 2,839 lots.
Copper futures gain on fresh bets
Copper futures rose 0.48 per cent to Rs 1,131 per kilogram due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for January delivery grew Rs 5.45 in a business turnover of 6,974 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
