Commodity Watch: Zinc futures ease on trimmed positions

New Delhi: Zinc prices fell 90 paise to Rs 326.65 per kg in futures trade as speculators reduced their exposure, tracking negative cues from the spot market. Zinc contracts for March delivery slipped by 0.27 per centin a business turnover of 103 lots.
Analysts said the trimming of positions by participants, owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the physical market, mainly weighed on zinc prices.
Copper futures gain on higher demand
Copper futures rose by Rs 2.35 to Rs 1,210.65 per kg on Thursday due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for March delivery grew by Rs 2.35in a business turnover of 1,260 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
Aluminium futures fall on low bets
Aluminium prices dropped 10 paise to Rs 313.70 per kg in the futures trade on Thursday, as participants trimmed their positions amid a weak trend in spot markets. Aluminium for delivery in March fell by 0.03 per centin 121 lots.
