Commodity Watch: Zinc futures decline on trimmed positions

New Delhi: Zinc prices fell Rs 1.05 to Rs 327.45 per kg in futures trade as speculators reduced their exposure, tracking negative cues from the spot market. Zinc contracts for March delivery slipped 0.32 per cent in 3,933 lots. Analysts said the trimming of positions by participants owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in physical market mainly weighed on zinc prices.
Copper futures gain on spot demand
Copper futures rose by 95 paise to Rs 1,210.40 per kg due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for March delivery grew 0.08 per cent in a business turnover of 1,488 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
Aluminium futures fall on low bets
Aluminium prices dropped by 75 paise to Rs 312.40 per kg in the futures trade as participants trimmed their positions amid a weak trend in spot markets. Aluminium for delivery in March fell 0.24 per cent in 4,412 lots.
