Commodity Watch: Zinc futures advance on increased turnover

New Delhi: Zinc prices rose Rs 1.80 to Rs 308.05 per kilogram in futures trade amid a pick-up in spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for January delivery traded 0.59 per cent higher in a turnover of 764 lots. Marketmen said the widening of positions by participants kept zinc prices higher in the futures trade.
Aluminium futures rise on higher bets
Aluminium prices rose Rs 1.95 to Rs 279.95 per kilogram in the futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. Aluminium for delivery in January increased 0.7 per cent in 835 lots.
Copper futures gain on fresh demand
Copper futures rose 0.8 per cent to Rs 1,097.40 per kilogram due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for January delivery grew Rs 8.70 in a business turnover of 2,210 lots. Analysts attributed the rise in copper prices to higher bets by participants.
