Commodity Watch: Copper futures surge over 8%

New Delhi: Copper prices rallied for the fifth straight session to hit a new record high of Rs 1,249.95 per kg in futures trade, tracking firm global cues amid tight supply conditions. Copper futures for December delivery jumped Rs 93.35, or 8.07 per cent, to hit a record of Rs 1,249.95 per kg. The January contract climbed Rs 105.5, or 9 per cent, to touch a lifetime high of Rs 1,277.95 per kg.
Aluminium futures hit fresh peaks
Aluminium prices jumped 3 per cent to hit a new lifetime high of Rs 294.90 per kg in the futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market.
Zinc futures climb on higher demand
Zinc prices rose Rs 4.65 to Rs 307.95 per kilogram in futures trade amid a pick-up in spot demand. Zinc contracts for December delivery rose 1.53 per cent in a business turnover of 738 lots. Similarly, the January contract for Zinc rose Rs 6.35, or 2.08 per cent, to Rs 311.40 per kg with a business turnover of 4,825 lots.
