Commodity Watch: Aluminium futures rise on fresh positions

New Delhi: Aluminium prices rose nearly 0.4 per cent to Rs 316.15 per kg in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in March increased by Rs 1.25 in 84 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders, consuming industries supported prices.
Zinc futures climb on increased demand
Zinc prices rose Rs 2.80 to Rs 328.55 per kg in futures trade as traders stayed on the sidelines amid a lack of fresh triggers. Zinc contracts for March delivery edged up by 0.80 per cent in a turnover of 616 lots. Traders attributed the slight rise in zinc futures to limited buying at lower levels.
Copper futures gain on high bets
Copper futures rose by Rs 5.40 to Rs 1,266.85 per kg due to higher spot demand. Copper contracts for March delivery grew by Rs 5.40, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 1,266.85 per kilogram in a business turnover of 230 lots.
