Commodity Watch: Aluminium futures rise on fresh bets

Aluminium prices on Friday rose nearly 0.23 per cent to Rs 355.60 per kg in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the price of aluminium for delivery in May increased by 80 paise, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 355.60 per kilogram in 524 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.
Zinc futures rise on high demand
Zinc prices on Friday rose marginally by 30 paise to Rs 329.60 per kg in futures trade due to higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for May delivery edged up 30 paise, or 0.09 per cent, to Rs 329.60 per kg with a business turnover of 412 lots. Traders attributed the rise in zinc futures to higher bets by participants.
Copper futures gain on higher spot demand
Copper futures rose by Rs 6.70 to Rs 1,212.45 per kg on Friday on higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for May delivery grew by Rs 6.70, or 0.56 per cent, to Rs 1,212.45 per kilogram in a business turnover of 548 lots.
