Commodity Watch: Aluminium futures inch up on fresh positions

New Delhi: Aluminium prices rose nearly 1.6 per cent to Rs 348.85 per kg in futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. The price of aluminium for delivery in April increased Rs 5.50 in 289 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.
Copper futures slip on subdued demand
Copper prices fell Rs 8.95 to Rs 1,208.75 per kilogram in the futures trade on Monday, weighed down by muted demand in the domestic spot market. Copper for April delivery slipped 0.73 per cent in 422 lots.
Zinc futures rise on high bets
Zinc prices on Monday rose marginally by 75 paise to Rs 326.65 per kg in futures trade due to higher spot demand. Zinc contracts for April delivery edged up 0.23 per cent in 53 lots. Traders attributed the rise in zinc futures to higher bets by participants.
