Commodity Watch: Aluminium futures advance on increased positions

New Delhi: Aluminium prices rose Rs 1.10 to Rs 282.60 per kilogram in the futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. Aluminium for de-livery in January increased 0.39 per cent in 515 lots. Analysts said fresh positions created by traders amid demand from consuming industries supported aluminium prices in the futures market.

Zinc futures rise on higher demand

Zinc prices rose Rs 2.40 to Rs 308.90 per kilogram in futures trade amid a pick-up in spot de-mand. Zinc contracts for January delivery traded 0.3 per cent higher in a turnover of 754 lots. Marketmen said the widening of positions by participants kept zinc prices higher in the futures trade.

Copper futures gain on fresh bets

Copper futures rose 0.78 per cent to Rs 1,109.05 per kilogram due to higher spot demand. Cop-per contracts for January delivery grew Rs 8.60 in a turnover of 1,724 lots.
