Veteran investor Warren Buffett will continue to serve as Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway even after Vice Chairman Greg Abel takes over as CEO in early 2026.

The board of directors voted on Sunday to retain the legendary 94-year-old investor as Chairman. In the same meeting, they also approved Buffett’s chosen successor, 62-year-old Greg Abel, as the new CEO.

During the six decades, Buffett turned a Massachusetts textile company into a successful business conglomerate that owns Dairy Queen, See’s Candies, BNSF Railway and giant insurers.

Notably, the decision to continue with the veteran investor came amid reports that Howard Buffett, the second child of the investor's three children will move into the spot. The older Buffet has expressed his willingness to appoint Howard as the Chairman of the company.
