The US stock markets are closed today, Thursday, June 19, 2025, in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day — a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Both major US exchanges, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq, are shut for the full day. There will be no trading in equities, ETFs, or options, and the US bond markets are also closed.

📈 Trading resumes tomorrow — Friday, June 20, 2025.

📌 What Is Juneteenth?

Often called America’s “Second Independence Day”, Juneteenth marks the day — June 19, 1865 — when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth was declared a US federal holiday in 2021, and is included in the official US market holiday calendar.

📊 Wall Street Recap: June 18, 2025

Dow Jones: ↓ 44.14 pts (0.10%)

S&P 500: ↓ 1.85 pts (0.03%)

The Fed held interest rates steady at 4.25%–4.50% and signaled two rate cuts in 2025 and just one in 2026, a more cautious long-term stance than previously expected.
