US designates Anthropic as supply chain risk

New Delhi: American artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic has confirmed it has been formally designated a “Supply Chain Risk (SCR)” by the US government, while its CEO Dario Amodei apologised for criticising President Donald Trump in a leaked internal memo.

The company said it received a letter on March 4 informing it of the formal SCR designation and that it would challenge the decision in court.

In a blog post, Amodei apologised for the memo criticising President Trump, describing the assessment as “out-of-date” and saying it did not represent the company’s views. Anthropic said it does not believe the designation under 10 U.S.C. 3252 is “legally sound”.
