The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Thursday that two Indian nationals, Shahzadi Khan and Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu, who were executed in the UAE, were laid to rest earlier in the day with their families present.

Who Were They?

Shahzadi Khan, a 33-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, was executed on February 15 in Abu Dhabi. She had been convicted of causing the death of a four-month-old child under her care. The UAE authorities informed the Indian Embassy about her execution on February 28.

Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu, from Kerala, was executed on February 28 after being convicted of murdering an Emirati national.

Government's Response

The MEA stated that it had provided full consular and legal support to both individuals and had also submitted mercy petitions on their behalf. However, the UAE's highest court upheld their sentences.

Last Rites and Burial

Shahzadi Khan was buried in Abu Dhabi following UAE regulations. Her family representatives attended the funeral prayers at a mosque and her burial at Baniyas Cemetery. Indian Embassy officials assisted and were present at the last rites.

Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu was also buried the same day, with his family participating in the final prayers.

The MEA expressed condolences to both families and reiterated that it had supported them throughout the process.
