PSL 2025: Foreign Players Stranded in Pakistan Due to Airspace Lockdown Post Operation Sindoor

The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 has been thrown into uncertainty after India launched Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory military strike following the Pahalgam terror attack. As geopolitical tensions flare, several foreign players participating in the league are reportedly eager to leave Pakistan—but cannot, due to newly imposed airspace restrictions.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Foreign players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are unable to exit the country due to airspace restrictions.
- The restrictions come in the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor, a military response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
- The future of PSL 2025 remains uncertain as tensions rise in the region.
According to sources, at least seven English players have conveyed their desire to exit the tournament prematurely. However, their departure has been stalled, with airspace across parts of Pakistan currently under strict control.
Amir Mir, spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), confirmed that foreign players will not be able to leave the country for the next 48 hours due to the airspace situation. He added that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is closely monitoring developments and is in constant communication with its players.
Meanwhile, a meeting between the foreign players and PSL Chief Salman Naseer took place informally over dinner. Discussions naturally included concerns over the regional conflict. Amir Mir reassured that the players are safe and are being protected under high security by the Pakistan Army.
Despite cross-border surgical strikes, PCB officials insist that there are no immediate plans to halt the PSL. However, they acknowledged that any escalation in the situation could lead to further decisions regarding the tournament's continuation.
