Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday reaffirmed India’s commitment to Mauritius by inaugurating several key projects alongside Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam. The two leaders highlighted the significance of their countries’ enduring partnership and announced an 'Enhanced Strategic Partnership' agreement.

Modi and Ramgoolam oversaw the signing of multiple agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and cultural exchange. The Indian Prime Minister stated that India would contribute to the construction of a new Parliament building in Mauritius, underscoring India’s role in the island nation's development.

“Our collaboration reflects the strong foundation of trust and cooperation that has existed for decades. India remains committed to supporting Mauritius in its growth journey,” Modi said.

Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam expressed gratitude for India’s unwavering support, particularly in economic development and security. “India has always stood by Mauritius, and today’s agreements reaffirm our deep-rooted ties. We appreciate India’s assistance in critical infrastructure projects,” Ramgoolam stated.

As part of India's presence at Mauritius’ National Day celebrations, INS Imphal arrived in Port Louis, symbolizing India's security cooperation with the nation. The ship’s participation reflects India's commitment to strengthening maritime security in the Indian Ocean region.

During the event, Modi announced that Indian authorities would extend support to Mauritius nationals undertaking the Char Dham Yatra in India. The initiative is expected to ease travel and provide necessary assistance for pilgrims visiting sacred Hindu sites.

The leaders discussed economic collaboration, with a focus on boosting trade and investment. India’s economic growth projections also remained a key highlight, with Moody’s forecasting over 6.5 per cent GDP growth for India in the upcoming fiscal year.
