PayPal and Venmo are down for many users in the U.S., with reports of failed payments and login issues. No official statement has been released yet.
Several users across the U.S. report PayPal and Venmo outages, with complaints of failed transactions and inaccessible accounts.

Digital payment platforms PayPal and Venmo experienced widespread technical issues on Friday, leaving thousands of users across the United States unable to make payments or log in to their accounts.
According to outage tracking site DownDetector, over 700 reports were submitted for PayPal and nearly 900 for Venmo by 9 a.m. EDT. Affected users reported failed transactions, delayed transfers, and inaccessible app features, sparking concern among those relying on the platforms for daily financial activity.
One user wrote on DownDetector, "PayPal not letting me transfer money or anything—can y’all please fix the issue?" Another added, "Is Venmo working? I'm not receiving payments that were sent."
Social Media Erupts Over Glitch
- Many users took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustrations.
- "So is @Venmo down right now orrrr??? What is going on because I’m getting real irritated," posted one user.
- Another shared, "Venmo, yo, the app is down and people can't send payments, me included. If y’all could get it fixed, that would be great."
Criticism also touched on the broader reliance on digital finance.
"Oh hey, I see @Venmo and @PayPal are down on a Friday morning. Tell me more about how we should be a cashless society tho..." one user remarked.
Several users noted difficulty sending rent or essential payments.
"I'm trying to send rent money, and it's stuck on that loading screen and my payment method won't even show up," wrote another frustrated user.

As of the latest update, neither PayPal nor Venmo has issued an official statement addressing the outage or providing a timeline for resolution.
Both platforms are widely used for personal transactions, small business payments, and peer-to-peer transfers, making any disruption a significant inconvenience for users.
