Following the release of chapter 1157, One Piece will go on another break, delaying chapter 1158 until Monday, September 1, 2025. This reduced output has left fans frustrated, as August 2025 will only feature chapters 1157 and 1158.

Breaks disrupt Elbaph Arc’s momentum

This slowdown comes after a series of pauses. Creator Eiichiro Oda took a break after chapter 1155, while Shonen Jump went on hiatus after chapter 1156. The latest break means that in just a few weeks, readers have endured three major interruptions in the story’s flow.

While many understand that Oda, who has been delivering high-quality chapters since 1997 and also contributes to the anime and live-action projects, needs rest, the back-to-back breaks have disrupted the fast-paced tension of the Elbaph Arc.
