Looking for help with today’s NYT Connections puzzle? You’re in the right place.
The popular word game Connections, developed by The New York Times, challenges players to group 16 seemingly unrelated words into four themed categories. It’s now the Times' second most-played game after Wordle and has become a viral favorite on platforms like X (formerly Twitter).
Each puzzle is refreshed daily at midnight and offers a mix of difficulty levels—Yellow (Easy), Green and Blue (Medium), and Purple (Hard). To play, simply select four words that share a common link and hit Submit. Be careful—four wrong guesses, and it’s game over. If you’re close, the game may even tell you you’re “one word away.”
🧩 What Is Connections?
Created by NYT associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, Connections made its beta debut on June 12, 2023. The goal: sharpen your vocabulary and critical thinking by identifying subtle word associations. The categories can be literal, thematic, or even involve a bit of wordplay.

Visit the NYT Games website or app to access the daily Connections puzzle. You’ll be presented with a grid of 16 words. The goal is to organize them into four related groups. Connections may be based on synonyms, cultural references, or common themes. Some words might seem like they fit multiple categories—only one solution is correct, so think carefully.
Categories are color-coded by difficulty:
🟨 Yellow: Easiest
🟩 Green: Moderate
🟦 Blue: Challenging
🟪 Purple: Most difficult, often involving wordplay
Once you’ve made a guess, the game will tell you if you’re correct or not. Choose wisely—you have only four chances.
