The viral sound of this summer isn’t from a chart-topping hit but from an airline commercial. The phrase “Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday,” paired with Jess Glynne’s 2015 hit “Hold My Hand,” has taken TikTok by storm, with over 1.2 million uses on the platform.

From Ad to Viral Fame

The original Jet2 advertisement, launched in 2024, featured a family enjoying a beach vacation after boarding a Jet2 flight. Though it began as a standard promotional campaign, the catchy audio has now become a viral trend, often used in ironic or humorous videos highlighting travel mishaps — from bad weather to unruly passengers.

According to Google Trends, searches for “Jet2 holiday” have surged in recent months.

Zoë Lister – The Voice Behind the Viral Clip

British actor Zoë Lister, the voiceover artist for the ad, admitted she never expected the audio to resonate globally.

“Somebody sent me a video yesterday of Joe Jonas using the sound, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s massive!’” Lister told NBC News in an interview.

Lister even introduced herself as the voice in a recent TikTok post. She finds it amusing that the trend has caught on in the United States, where the term “holiday” is less common.

“They don’t even know what Jet2 holiday is,” she joked. “But they’ve embraced the joyful silliness of it.”

TikTok Trend and Jet2’s Response

One of the first viral videos featuring the audio — showing a camel attacking someone — has racked up 3.8 million views since November 2024, according to KnowYourMeme.

Jet2 capitalized on the trend earlier this year by launching a TikTok giveaway for users who created videos using the sound. The airline, popular for offering budget-friendly vacation packages, operates charter flights across Europe and beyond.

Jess Glynne’s Unexpected Spotlight

The pop star’s lyric, “Darling, hold my hand,” is now synonymous with Jet2’s slogan. Lister and Glynne recently crossed paths during a Capital FM radio appearance in London — a moment Lister described as “wild.”

“She’s a super cool mega pop star and I’m this cheeseball,” Lister laughed.

Newfound Fame for Lister

Though Lister was already known in the UK for her role as Zoe Carpenter in the teen soap Hollyoaks (2006–2017), the viral audio has elevated her profile further.

“In the last week, I’ve been on trains and in cafes and can hear people watching the meme,” she said. “Last Friday, while celebrating my anniversary, the girls at the next table were literally recording their own ‘Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday’ video.”

Her husband even introduced the group to “the woman behind the voice,” turning the encounter into a fun, memorable moment.

Lister hopes this viral fame will help her pursue new creative ventures, including launching her planned podcast.

“I’ve got lots of creative projects I want to do, and I hope this kind of unexpected infamy will help me get there,” she said.
