As the US H-1B visa program once again now grasps headline news, all wonder which companies hire the highest number of foreign professionals under this scheme. As confirmed by USCIS, enough petitions were received to meet the congressionally established quota of 65,000 regular H-1B visas and another 20,000 for a special category of US advanced degree holders for FY 2026.

Trump Administration Imposes USD 100,000 Fee on H-1B Visas

The Trump administration went on to impose a large USD 100,000 annual fee for H-1B visas, apparently with the intention of countering what it describes as "systemic abuse" of the program. The move is intended to encourage US companies to prioritize hiring domestic talent while limiting the inflow of less critical foreign workers. President Donald Trump also described misuse of the H-1B program as a “national security threat,” highlighting investigations into visa fraud and other illicit activities involving certain outsourcing companies.

Looking Ahead

The introduction of the new $100,000 visa fee, along with enhanced scrutiny, may force heavy H-1B-dependent companies to take a hard look at their hiring policies. It will be interesting to see over the next few months how the IT and professional workforces in general are affected, especially from countries such as India.
