New report refutes Kim Soo Hyun’s alleged long-term relationship with Kim Sae Ron

After months of speculation linking Kim Soo Hyun to a six-year relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron, a new report is challenging that narrative. According to Korean media outlet Money Today (April 26), Kim Soo Hyun was actually in a three-year relationship with an unnamed idol-actress, starting around 2016 — overlapping with his military service from 2017 to 2019.
This report directly contradicts earlier claims made by Kim Sae Ron's family, who alleged that the actress and Kim Soo Hyun had been romantically involved since 2015, when she was still a minor.
Citing an industry insider, the article stated that Kim Soo Hyun’s relationship with “Actress A” "conflicts with" Kim Sae Ron's account, which claimed they dated from late 2015 until mid-2021.
Reportedly, Kim Soo Hyun grew close to Actress A through their shared ties with management agency KEYEAST, which he joined in 2010 after leaving M.Boat. Their romance is said to have ended in early 2019, just before Kim Soo Hyun completed his military service.
In 2019, Kim Soo Hyun also left KEYEAST to establish his own agency, GOLDMEDALIST, alongside his cousin Lee Sa Rang.
The insider quoted in the report mentioned, “It was something of an open secret in the industry that Kim Soo Hyun and Actress A were dating, making it unlikely that he was also seeing Kim Sae Ron during that time.” They also noted that Kim Soo Hyun’s camp has chosen not to comment to protect Actress A’s privacy.
Despite the report seeming to support Kim Soo Hyun’s side, public reactions remain mixed. Many questioned the credibility of the anonymous sources, while others speculated that the report might unintentionally hint at multiple overlapping relationships.
The article also added a new twist — suggesting that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron may have dated briefly between 2019 and 2020, rather than spanning the six years previously alleged.
