In the midst of escalating tensions in the region between India Pakistan relations following the Pahalgam terror attack, which has claimed the lives of 26 people and injured 26 others, the United States has encouraged New Delhi and Islamabad to ease tensions. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, insisting that the US will work with India against terrorism, and calling for Pakistan's support in investigating this "unconscionable" attack in Kashmir.

In their phone call Mr Rubio expressed solidarity towards New Delhi while lamenting the loss of life from the terrorist attack in Pahalgam to Mr Jaishankar. He reinforced his faith in America's dedication to partnering with India to combat terrorism.

Following the incident after the call, Mr. Jaishankar wrote the message on X the message that "perpetrators, backers and planners" of the attack "must be brought to justice."
