A video recorded in a Dallas neighborhood has drawn nationwide attention after a resident linked a local street gathering to immigration issues.
The clip, posted on social media by user Daniel Keene, shows residents playing drums and participating in a community celebration. Filmed from his car, Keene captioned the video with remarks criticizing the presence of Indian immigrants in his area.
“Typical view in my neighborhood outside Dallas. We have to cancel the H1-Bs. I want my kids to grow up in America. Not India,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Following the post, Keene added further comments alleging that suburban neighborhoods across Dallas have rapidly changed, saying that most residents in his area are now of Indian origin.
The video quickly went viral, generating thousands of comments. Social media users were divided in their responses, with some denouncing Keene’s remarks as discriminatory, while others echoed his concerns about immigration.
One user advised him to approach his neighbors directly, suggesting that such interactions could ease misunderstandings: “If you speak to them, you’ll likely experience hospitality and learn about the event instead of assuming the worst.”
Others defended the celebrations, pointing out that Indian-American families contribute to neighborhood life. “This is my America. I live in a largely Indian community in Texas, and it’s been positive—safe streets, active families, and good schools,” another resident wrote.
Several commenters, however, supported Keene’s frustration. “Indian families are moving into every suburb. It’s overwhelming,” one user claimed. Another said they faced a similar experience after relocating near Austin, where most surrounding households were Indian families.
The controversy reignited discussions on U.S. immigration policy, particularly regarding the H-1B visa program. While some voices online called for restrictions, others argued immigrants are lawfully settled and play a vital role in communities.
One comment went further, suggesting the government should consider repatriation of both legal and undocumented migrants — a stance that fueled even more heated exchanges.
